The finest dreams are born from passion. Mother and son team Mary and Danny Wolf have followed their passion from its inspiration some six years ago to its current incarnation. Wild Wolf’s Brewery & Restaurant, features the hand crafted beers they have become so well-known for as well as the freshest local foods available in Central Virginia—all in a century old Nelson County landmark building.
Housed where generations of Nelson County children attended high school from 1910 to 1939, the five acre property features a spectacular Biergarten, shaded by a protective canopy of decades old elms. Seasonal outdoor diners can enjoy the working water wheel and the lazy fragrant breezes that blow through Nellysford, while year-round patrons can look forward to a rustic indoor dining room, comfortable porch seating and a lively sports bar.
Mary caught the brewing bug from son Danny, after he attended the prestigious Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago and trained in the time honored traditions of the Brewmaster, even spending time in Munich to ensure his skills were top notch. Always entrepreneurial, Mary quickly decided that her home of Nellysford was just the place to establish a unique venture – one of just a few mother/son breweries in the country, nestled in the heart of the ‘Brew Ridge Trail.’
The property also features five old tobacco barns that will find new life as boutique shops. These will include: a gifts and gourmet shop by Zestivities (used to be located in Crozet), ExtraZ! (boutique items such as jackets, jewelry, etc.) as well as HomeBrewz – a Home Brew Supply Shop, along with a unique collection of Bar Ware, with more shops coming in the spring.
